MOCID serves as a community where ideas are exchanged, lifelong partnerships are built, and significant milestones are celebrated alongside moments of vulnerability. The group highlights the stories of Black men who have achieved success to inspire others in the field. In the realm of philanthropy, the representation of Black men is notably lacking. Research indicates that Black men may comprise less than 1% of the workforce in grantmaking organizations. While 11% of individuals in philanthropy identify as Black or African American, this statistic encompasses both genders. Despite their crucial contributions across various sectors, including development and philanthropy, Black men often go unrecognized properly.
